Astrologer Venkat G Subramanian Interview
The following given details are my personal opinion on my life experience.

1. How did you get interested in astrology initially? What made you come into the field of astrology, as a profession?

When I was young, my family members used to see good time for any event using Panchang, besides Rahu Kaalam and daily Hora. When something went wrong during execution of any event, they used to blame the time period as “bad”. In those days, I knew only two planets namely - Sun and Moon (as luminaries), governing day and night. Their motion during day and night respectively, made me think and find out the reason. Later, I came to know about the other planets through Navagraha, which were placed in different directions of Shiva Mandir (temple).

I was very curious to know the reasons, for the existence of Navgraha. This ultimately led to my interest in the field of astrology, when I was 16 years old. Later, I took interest in reading late Shri BV Raman’s basic books at the age of 20-22, along with my close schoolmate (a Christian by name (Late) Shri Thiraviyam). We both used to share our knowledge with each other, by way of analysing our family charts generated through traditional methods.

When I was in service, I was very busy in my routine work till my retirement. As a result, I did not find suitable time to develop further on modern scientific astrology. Now after my retirement, I have little time, which I am sparing for the society through astrology.

2. What astrological system do you use and why?

I have been doing my analysis with KP System and integration of Bhaskara System of cuspal interlinking. To best of my knowledge, when KP sublord system is further integrated with cuspal interlinking, it produces better results. As both are according to the Placidus Housing system; hence, it is easy to follow.

3. Any incident related to astrology in your life or your prediction, which created impact and that you want to share with our readers?

During 2004-2005, I was in Ashok Nagar, Madras, along with my second son. My daughter-in-law was working with the company, Accenture. Everyday her company used to send cab (van) from their office for pickup and drop. It used to take 7- 8 other staff members, who were all ladies. The cab used to come at my location on a specific time in the morning hours, regularly. But during evening time, it used to come in between 8:15 – 8:45 PM, depending upon the road traffic congestion. But not earlier to this time and invariably within the stipulated time period. My wife used to ask her (daughter-in-law) every day for preparation of dinner. During that period, I was studying KP Horary astrology. There was no KP software with me by that time. Hence, I used to generate charts manually with the help of KP tables using Late Shri Eshwar Manu's (astrology table for all) table.

As a case study, I tried and noted the timings of her arrival, during evening for about 20 specific days. I used to do it with the help of RP’s at the moment of my judgement. I maintained the calculations and discussed the resultant time with my wife in advance, on a daily basis. Mostly it got tallied and made her surprised. But on selective occasions, I miserably failed in my predictions, as I failed to handle the nodes correctly when they became as RPs.

One particular day, my daughter-in-law informed my to prepare dinner, as she would be reaching home early around 8 -15 hrs. Reason behind, was, that the cab had almost crossed near Ekkatuthangal in 100 ft road, a place located 3-4 kms from my residence. Meanwhile, having known her approximate arrival time on that day, my wife asked me to prepare a horary to tally the result. I was little bit tired on that day, but she kept on asking me for my prediction. She wanted to know whether it would indicate any advance time in between 8:00 to 8:20 PM, which normally would happen and fall in between 8:35 to 8:50 PM.

Immediately, I prepared a horary time chart for arrival of the cab. Based on RP’s, it did not match within her said time period and indicated during mid night (beyond 12.00). I told my wife that she would reach home only after mid night. She was laughing at me by saying that your prediction was wrong and she would be reaching home within few minutes (time noted was 08:12 PM). I felt bad and I kept quiet for some time and tried to find out where I had gone wrong. By the time it was (8:18 PM) and she went outside to see her cab arrival. She was waiting there till 8:30 and came back inside to our premises.

At around 08:35, my daughter-in-law called my wife and said sorry. She informed her that one among the crew members, requested others to go for a movie at mount road (Anna Salai), and the initiated suggestion was opined by all crew members. Hence, the vehicle which was approaching toward Ashok Pillar area, diverted to go for their desired destination at mount road. She also informed her that she would be reaching home late and we should not wait for her over dinner, as the entire crew would have their dinner outside.

As predicted, she reached home by midnight along with the other colleagues. My wife was astonished and from that day onwards, she accepted that horary is a divine science. There were no words to express my feelings. This is a fact.

4. What are your suggestions for budding astrologers or for those who’re interested in this subject?

Astrology is no doubt a divine science. Learning is a continuous process. Skills develop only through practice. Hence, continuous practice would be a helping tool to reach your desired destination.

5. According to you, which are the best astrology books that one should read?

Apart from KP Readers, it is wise to read ‘Astro Secrets’ (all parts) and Late K.M. Subramaniam’s, sub lord speaks volume -1, 2, and 3. For fundamentals on Kaalachakra, the same may be referred by any author, as mostly all remain same. Learning materials, tutorials on KP are available at AstroSage.com. Lot of reference e-books are available as study materials.
