Significance of Makar Sankranti

On the day of Makar Sankranti, Sun transits to Capricorn (Makar). Sun signifies knowledge, spiritual light, and wisdom. It is tranditionally celebrated as a harvest festival. Rituals On Puja Day

  • Clean the house properly
  • Take bath and oil your body
  • Arrange the Puja Room and put the picture of God Surya
  • Decorate the house with mango leaves, flowers and by making rangoli (kolams)

Puja Vidhi

  • The puja starts at the time when Sun rises 
  • Start the prayer by chanting Gayatri Mantra.
  • Illuminate two Diyas 
  • Place Coconut, nuts and betal leafs at Puja place
