Dhanteras Rules & Regulations As Per Scriptures
As per the Hindu Panchang, celebrations of Dhanteras fall in the Kartik Month. Specifically, the commemoration falls on the Uday Vyapini Trayodashi of the Krishna Paksha of this month. Thus, if the thirteenth day (trayodashi tithi) falls during the sunrise, then that day is Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi. On this day, people also do Deep Daan to Lord Yamaraj, God of Death.

Dhanteras 2019: Things to Remember
Devotees of Hinduism pray to Lord Kuber, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Dhanvantri on Dhanteras and wish for peace, prosperity, and health in life. However, one should never sit for worship out of greed on this day. Instead, your thoughts should be of helping the needy with the money you have, and working towards the betterment of society. In fact, people believe that Goddess Lakshmi (often an allegory for wealth) will enter your home only if your heart is pure and you hold no malice for anyone. If you harbour any ill-will in your mind and have such impious thoughts, then you will not be able to attain Lakshmi - both wealth and the blessings of the Goddess).
Dhanteras Puja Rituals
- Wake up early on Dhanteras, and after being done with your morning rituals, wear clean clothes. You should also clean your house.

- Every member of the family should participate in this puja. Distribute the prasad after completion.
- You should light a diya (lamp) on the main door of your home, in the evening.
- Also, worship Goddess Lakshmi with complete rituals in the evening of Dhantrayodashi.
