The fast of Karwa Chauth usually falls in the month of October or November nine days before the festival of Diwali and marks the beginning of preparations for celebration. This year, it will occur on October 27, 2018 i.e. tomorrow. As per panchang, the fast is observed on the chaturthi of Kartik month when the moon is in waning phase. The fast is popular in Northern-India for centuries.

  • Take a bath early morning and clean the worshipping area. Consume Sargi (edibles) offered by your mother-in-law.
  • Solah shringar (makeup that has essential 16 elements) is mandatory for married women on this day. This includes - sindoor, mangalsutra, teeka, nosepin or nathani, bindi, kajal, henna or mehndi, bangles, red dupatta, bichue, anklet or payal, karnaphul, kamarbandh, ring, bajubandh, and gajra.
