According to Hindu calendar, three and a half dates of Moon are considered extremely auspicious. First and foremost is first Tithi (date) of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. After this comes tenth Tithi of Ashwin month, third Tithi of Vaishakh month, and then first Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. First three Tithis are considered as complete, but last one is counted as half Tithi. Due to this reason, it is also known as Sade Teen (three and a half) Muhurat.

Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu are worshiped on Akshaya Tritiya. Here are the steps to conduct Puja rituals on this day:
- Get up early and take bath with Gangajal.
- Establish idols of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Worship them using rice, incense sticks, and sandalwood.
- Bathe the idols with Panchamrit. Offer barley, Sattoo, grams, and basil leaves (Tulsi).
- Perform Aarti for Lord Vishnu and make donations to Brahmins.
- To get fruitful results, donate utensils, water-melon, milk, curd, and rice.
