• Parashurama Jayanti

• Mahabharata

The holy day of Akshaya Tritiya has a sacred connection with Mahabharata as well. It is believed that Satyug (the Golden Age), commenced from this day onwards. Maa Kaalratri - Preserver of the Good and Slayer of the Evil

The seventh and the most violent and ferocious swaroop of Goddess Paarvati is Maa Kaalratri. Her name coalesces words KAAL meaning “time or death” and RATRI meaning “the night”, thus it signifies that the Goddess is the slayer of the darkness. It is believed that she removed her golden skin to destroy the two demons, Shumbha and Nishumbha, after killing Rakhtbeej. Rudrabhishek of Lord Shiva is of great significance on this occasion. It is believed that performing Rudrabhishek of Shivji destroys all diseases, sorrows and sufferings of a person and also grants them their desired wishes. Devotees can perform following Puja Vidhi on Mahashivratri to get blessings of the God:

• Eat only one time on 13th Day (Trayodashi) and avoid food for whole day on Chaturdashi. During this period, only fruits and milk should be taken.
