In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is the first to be worshipped among all the deities. No work goes uninterrupted without worshipping the God. Therefore, Ganesh ji is worshipped before initiating any auspicious task such as marriage, Griha Pravesh, etc.
According to Panchang or Hindu Calendar, this auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi occurs on fourth day (Chaturthi) of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month. It is believed that Shree Ganesh was born on this day. This festival is also known by the name of Vinayak Chaturthi, Kalank Chaturthi and Danda Chauth.

Ganesh Chaturthi Vrat Rituals
- After bathing in the morning, take Copper or clay - made idol of Ganesh ji and worship the Siddhivinayak Roop (form) of the God.
- Fill a vessel with water and bind its mouth with a new cloth. Then, place Ganpati above it.
- Offer Vermilion, Durva (grass) and 21 Laddoos as Bhoga to the God. Then, share this Prasad of Laddoos among poor or Brahmins.
Remedies to Appease Lord Ganesha as per Zodiac Sign
Aries and Scorpio
Natives of these two signs should establish Vermillion (Sindoori) colored Ganesh Murti (idol) in their homes and adorn his idol with Red and Vermillion clothes. Also offer red roses, and Boondi Laddoos and Pomegranate as Prasad to Lord Ganesha.
Remedy: Chant “ऊँ Gan Ganpataye Namah” daily while offering 11 Durva grass to Ganpati ji.
Taurus and Libra
Dress up the idol of Lord Ganesha in white clothes and offer Modak as Bhoga.

Gemini and Virgo

Why Chandra Darshan is prohibited during Ganesh Chaturthi?
It is believed that a person should not see Moon during Ganesh Chaturthi. The reason being that Chandra Darshan may cause Mithya Kalank to a person, i.e. she/he may charged with false allegations without any reason. As per religious texts, Lord Krishna also became the victim of falsehood (Mithya) due to Chandra Darshan. But what is the reason behind this belief?
On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, there is an ancient story about Chandra Darshan. According to this myth, Lord Ganesha cursed Chandra on the day of Chaturthi, and this is the reason why seeing Moon on this day is prohibited. If anyone sees Moon by mistake, then there is a description of Chandra Darshan Dosh Nivaran Mantra in Vedic scriptures. One can chant this Mantra 28, 54 or 108 times to avoid the harmful effects of Chandra Darshan. Additionally, reading the 57th chapter of 10th part (Skanda) of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta also results in eliminating Chandra Darshan Dosha.
