Shravana Putrada Ekadashi: The Mythological Tale

Once, there was a King named Mahijit. He had all the luxuries of life, but God didn’t bless him with the most important asset of life i.e. a child. He consulted many saints and sages, but could not find the solution. Then an omniscient learned sage, Lomesh told him the reason behind this. He explained him that it is the result of one of the sin committed by him in the previous birth. He told him that he was a merchant in his previous birth and he drove away the thirsty calf and crow from the river side when they were drinking water.

Lomesh advised him to observe Putrada Ekadashi Vrat to get rid of this sin. The royal couple observed a fast and worshiped Lord Vishnu with all faith & devotion on the day of Putrada Ekadashi. As a result, Lord Vishnu blessed them with a cute child.
