  3. People clean their houses and prepare Sevai (vermicelli), rice items, Laddoo in honour of the Snake God.
  4. Devotees conduct a Puja, in which the snake is bathed with Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, yogurt, sugar, honey, and butter) to remove the sufferings and ill effects from their life.
  5. You can even fast a day before Nag Panchami, the day is called Nag Chaturthi or Nagula Chavithi.
  6. You should also feed Brahmins on this festival, as it is considered very auspicious.
  7. Digging is prohibited on this day, as it might cause harm to snakes.
  8. People also chant some Mantras in the honor of the deity.
  9. In some eastern regions like West Bengal, Assam, and Orissa, people worship Goddess Manasa, as she is considered as the Goddess of Serpents

The festival is two days after Haryali Teej and people also celebrate a day before it as Nag Chaturthi, also known as Nagula Chavithi.
