Goddess Mahagauri rules Ashtami, and auspicious day of Navami is dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri. Let’s now know the Panchanga of the day with Muhurat:
(Below given Panchanga is on the basis of New Delhi region.)
As per the mythologies, Goddess Shailputri was very beautiful and fair in her teenage. Her complexion gave her the name of Mahagauri. She was so fair that her whiteness was compared to conch, Moon, and white flower Kunda. Also, she only wears white clothes. Hence, she is given the name “Shwetambardhara”.
During Navratri, she is worshipped on the eighth day i.e. Ashtami. It is believed that planet Rahu is governed by Goddess Mahagauri. She rides a bull, that’s why she is also called Vrisharudha. Maa Mahagauri has four hands. One right hand holds trident and the other hand holds Abhaya Mudra. She holds Damaru in one left hand and second left hand holds Varada Mudra.
Goddess Siddhidatri is the visual form of Adi-Parashakti. As per the beliefs, Rudra had worshiped Adi-Parashakti for the creation of universe. As she didn’t have any form, she emerged from the left half of Shiva (Rudra) as Goddess Siddhidatri. Since then, Lord Shiva is also known as Ardh-Narishwara. She is the Supreme Goddess, who holds all the power of this creation.
During Navratri, Goddess Siddhidatri is worshiped on the ninth day. She is the power who drives the force of Ketu and also provides him path. Hence, Ketu is ruled by her. Her appearance is very royal. If she sits, her couch is a beautiful lotus; if she travels, lion is her chariot. She has four arms. One right arm holds Gada, other one holds Chakra; one left hand carries lotus and other one is adorned with conch.
Worshiping the Supreme Goddess can adorn you with all the grace of this universe; you will own all the powers and be spiritually enlightened. Lord Shiva also got all his Siddhis from her. Mother of powers is not only worshiped by humans, but also by all the creatures of this universe; be them Devas, Gandharvas, Asuras, Yakshas, or Siddha.
Fourth day of Durga Puja has also arrived. This day is very important among all the days of Durga Puja, as on this day, young girls are worshipped. Devotees gives special offering to Goddess Durga on this day. Talking about rituals, Sandhi Puja is performed on this day. It is said that Maa Durga takes a powerful and terrible form of Kali or Chamundi on the cusp of eighth and ninth day. This form of Maa Durga was worshipped by Lord Rama to win the battle against Ravana.
