Hartalika Teej is a festival of womanhood which is celebrated mostly in Northern part of India. According to Hindu calendar, Hartalika Teej falls on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya of Bhadrapada month. In 2015, Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on September 16. Puja for Hartalika Teej can be done two times in a day i.e. in the morning (Pratahkal Hartalika Puja) and the evening (Pradosh Kaal Hartalika Puja). If due to some reasons morning Puja is not possible, one can opt for an evening Puja.

Fast observed on Hartalika Teej is a little similar to that done on Karva Chauth. Many women keep Nirjala (abstaining from drinking water) fast for the longevity of their husbands. 1. Put forth sweets, flower, and rice in turmeric powder along with some coins in front of the God idols.

Evening Puja marks the end of Hartalika fast. Women end their fast by drinking water and sweets that are generally offered by their husbands. They touch their husband’s feet and are offered with gifts as well as blessings.
