During Maha Navami, Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped. Her appearance includes four arms holding Gada (mace) & Chakra (discus weapon) in right hands and a lotus flower & Shankh (conch) in left hands. And she sits on a lotus flower. She got the name Siddhidatri as on this day, Lord Shiva achieved all the Siddhis with the blessing of this Goddess. On this last day, people also observe Kanya Pujan. On April 16, 2016, Dashmi will be observed. Parana will be performed on this day after 05:58 am.
Each year during Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month, Ramnavami is celebrated to mark Lord Ram’s birthday. On this day, people observe fast and chant the name of Rama in every breath. From this day only, Tulsidas had started writing Ramcharitmanas.
