This festival arrives approximately fifteen days after Diwali, on the day of Kartik Purnima, which is why it is known as Dev Diwali. Usually, the celebrations of Kartik Purnima take place all over India, but it is most popular in Banaras and Kashi, situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh. As per astrology, if this day coincides with Kritika Nakshatra, then it is known as Maha Kartiki. Along with this, if this Purnima or Full Moon falls on Bharni Nakshatras, then auspicious results come to the forefront. Since Kartik Purnima 2019 is coinciding with Chandra Bharani Nakshatra, its significance increases to a great extent.

Thus, devotees take a dip in the holy Ganges and donate lamps(Deep Daan) on this day. It is believed that those natives who take baths in the holy rivers and perform Deep Daan, get the auspicious results which can only be gained after performing ten Yagyas or Yajnas. Taking the significance of this occasion into account, it has been given the status of “Mahapunit” festival by the Holy Trinity(Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva).

Kartik Purnima: Religious Importance

Of all the Full Moons which arrive in a year, the Purnima of Kartik month is considered to be the most pious. Thus, making donations on this day and doing other charitable works generates the inflow of positive results in one’s life. It has also been said that if lamps are donated as a part of the Tripura Utsav during the evening hours, then it helps the native to gain redemption from the sins committed by him/her in the previous birth.

Kartik Purnima: Associated Mythological Legends

Many mythological legends are associated with this auspicious day. One such Legend suggests that a demon named Tripurasura performed austerity in Prayagraj for a period of one lakh years so as to increase his powers. As a result of the negative effects of his meditation, human beings and the divine too were frightened. In such a situation, the deities decided to send celestial nymphs so as to break his austerity, but he continued with meditation, which he completed successfully. Ultimately, Lord Brahma had to appear in front of him and ordered him to ask for a boon.

The demon Tripura asked for the boon of immortality and said that he will not be killed by any human on divine being, to which Brahma had to agree. Upon the fulfillment of this boon, Tripura’s powers started to increase and day by day he started tormenting all the Gods and Goddesses. After gaining control over the Devlok or heaven, he started to climb the Kailash mountain, Lord Shiva’s abode, because of which the ferocious Shiva called out Tripura for a dual. Blinded by his arrogance and power, Tripura decided to fight Mahadev and the fight continued for a period of many days. Afterwards, Lord Shiva took the help of Lord Brahma and Vishnu so as to win over Tripura. Beliefs state that the day on which all the three Lords granted salvation to the demon Tripura happened to be Kartik Purnima because of which lamps are lit all over the Earth and heaven on this day.

Mars Transit in Libra - 10 November 2019

These Zodiac Signs Need To Be Wary With The Mars Transit in Libra! Read On To Discover The Impact Of This Planetary Position As Per Astrology!

Mars is making its transit through the zodiac sign Libra on 10 November 2019. This planetary movement will diversely influence the 12 zodiac signs, both negatively and positively. Before discussing these effects, let us talk about the planet Mars, or Mangal first.

As per Vedic astrology, Mars is a cruel planet. It is the significator of energy, army, sports, courage, anger, power, bravery, land, and fighting etc. It has lordship over the zodiac signs Aries and Scorpio. Where, on the one hand, it is exalted in Capricorn; in Cancer, it is found in a debilitated state. As for the nakshatras, Mars is the Lord of Mrigashira, Chitra, and Dhanishta.

Implications of The Position of Mars in The Kundli

As per Astrology, a person who has a strongly-placed Mars in his/her kundli will be courageous and energetic. Such natives win wars, or in modern times excel in sports and such. On the flip side, if the planet is weakly placed in one’s birth chart, then such people have to face several challenges. An inauspicious Mars causes fights, disputes over land and property, and other such problems.

On the other hand, it is worth noting that the planet Mars is responsible for Mangal Dosha in one’s kundali. The planet’s position in the first, fourth, seventh, eighth, and twelfth house in a native’s natal chart causes the Mangal Dosha to form in their kundli. As a result, such people have to encounter several challenges in their marriage. Many often have to face a delay in getting married as well.

In order to avoid the adverse effects of the Mangal Dosha and strengthen the placement of Mars in one’s kundli, natives should perform the remedies to appease the planet. Not only do you reinforce the planet’s position in your birth chart, but also attain auspicious results due to them.

Ways To Appease Mars

  • Worship Lord Hanuman on Tuesday to attain his blessings and that of Lord Mars (Mangal Deva).
  • Wear red on a Tuesday to attain positive outcomes from the planet Mars.
  • Wear the Ananta Mool (Root) to strengthen the position of Mars in your kundli.
  • The gemstone Moonga or Coral also offers the same results as the root.
  • Wearing the Three-faced or Teen Mukhi Rudraksha helps one evade the malefic effects of the Mangal Dosha.
  • Establish the Mangal Yantra with proper rituals and worship it regularly.
  • Chant the Mars Beej Mantra that is given below to gain the blessings of Lord Mars:

Tulsi Vivah : Importance

From the religious, spiritual and medical point of view, the organization of Tulsi Vivah is very important. As we all know, the Tulsi plant is given a quite auspicious status. Its very presence fills the entire environment with positive energy. Therefore, it is effective and capable of eliminating many diseases. From a religious perspective, it can be stated that natives who take part in this marriage get an ample amount blessings from Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu.

Maa Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth. It is only because of her blessings that prosperity flows into one’s life. As a result, one doesn’t experience dearth of money and remains in an affluent state. At the same time, Lord Vishnu is the preserver of this Universe. His benediction helps one to attain great heights of success.

Mythological beliefs state that Tulsi Vivah should not be held in a house where there is no daughter. All the auspicious rituals that take place in Hindu religion are marked by the organization of Tulsi Vivah only.

Tulsi Vivah: Associates Mythological Legends

It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati had a third son, who is said to be the beholder of demonic instincts. He believed that his position was over all the Gods and Goddesses. Named Jalandhar, he was married to a lady named Vrinda, who happened to be one of the most prominent devotees of Lord Vishnu. He would repeatedly torment the Gods with his supreme powers, but the deities failed to kill Jalandhar because of Vrinda’s devotion. At last, the Gods approached Lord Vishnu to put an end to Jalandhar and their plight.

While offering a solution, Vishnu gave the advice of robbing Vrinda’s chastity. To do so, he appeared infront of Vrinda as Jalandhar and disrobed her chastity. Only then, all the Gods were able to put an end to Jalandhar. When the innocent Vrinda got to know about this, she cursed Lord Vishnu. Immediately, all the Gods approached Vrinda and pleaded in front of her to withdraw the curse, to which Vrinda obligated immediately. But Lord Vishnu took the form of a stone to attain atonement. This stone is called Shaligram.

Afterwards, Vrinda committed Sati with her husband, Jalandhar and a Tusli plant emerged out of her ashes. Not only this, Lord Vishnu never gave up his redemption and gave the highest status to the Tulsi plant and declared that he won't consume any meal without Tulsi. Afterwards, the Gods revered Vrinda for committing Sati and commenced her marriage with Shaligram. The day on which Tulsi Vivah was commenced happened to be Dev Uthani Ekadashi, which is why Tulsi marriage ceremony is organized every year during Dev Uthani Ekadashi.

Once upon a time Goddess Lakshmi asked Lord Narayan, “Oh Lord! If you keep waking up throughout the day and night, without taking rest for a single second, then your irregular sleeping pattern will prove to be harmful. Therefore, you should book a period in a year’s time, to give yourself some rest and relaxation. This will also help me to spend some moments of leisure.”

You don't even get a minute’s rest due to all these hassle. Hence, abiding by your words, from today onwards, I will sleep continuously for four months during the rainy season. During this time, all the Gods and Goddesses including you will get ample time to spend some leisurely moments.

Retrograde Mercury Transit in Libra - 7 November 2019

Today’s Mercury Retrograde Transit in Libra Will Benefit These Zodiac Signs! Read On To Discover The Impact Of This Planetary Position As Per Astrology!

The planet Mercury is moving in retrograde motion and as a result of this transit, will enter the zodiac sign Libra today, on 7 November 2019. Some of you may be confused about what retrograde motion exactly entails. Often, even though a planet is moving in its standard orbit, however, as it moves slower than the Earth, it seems to be moving backwards, when viewed from our abode. This condition is not because the said planet is actually moving in the opposite direction suddenly. Instead, it is merely an illusion due to the slow speed of the planet. Astrologically, Mercury is a dualistic planet, meaning that it offers neither auspicious, nor inauspicious results on its own. Instead, the outcomes it causes depends on the other planets that it is in conjunction with.

Impact of The Position of Mercury in One’s Kundli

Mercury has a significant value in one’s kundali. The planet’s positive influence on a native due to its benefic placement can make the person intelligent, a skillful orator, mathematician, and rationalist. Astrologically, Budh is the significator of speech, communication, mathematics, logical abilities, intellect, cleverness, and more. It has lordship over the zodiac signs Gemini and Virgo, while the latter is also its exalted sign. On the other hand, Pisces is the sign where the planet remains debilitated.

If Mercury’s position in the kundli is weak or it is in conjunction with a malefic or cruel planet, then it can cause several problems for the natives. A weakened Mercury can stunt one’s communication abilities. There is a naivety in their behaviour, and they fall behind in subjects like mathematics and logical skills.

However, one can always strengthen the position of the planet in their kundali by performing remedies mentioned in our ancient scriptures.

Ways To Appease Mercury

  • Worship Lord Ganesha on Wednesday, to gain his blessings and escape the adverse effects of Mercury.
  • Wear green clothes on this day to attain the planet’s grace.
  • One should wear the Vidhara Mool (Root) to strengthen the position of Mercury in their kundali.
  • Wear Four-Faced or Char Mukhi Rudraksha to avoid the harmful effects of the planet, Mercury.
  • Establish the Budh Yantra with proper rituals and worship it regularly.
  • Chant the following Beej Mantra of the planet Mercury to gain its blessings:
ॐ ब्रां ब्रीं ब्रौं सः बुधाय नमः।/oṃ brāṃ brīṃ brauṃ saḥ budhāya namaḥ
