- Janmashtami celebration begins with a fast and Puja on Ashtami (eighth day) and ends on Navami (ninth day) after Parana.
- Lord Krishna is duly worshipped on this day and his birthday is celebrated by the devotees with unfaltering devotion.
- Consumption of cereals is prohibited during the fast of Janmashtmi. However, the observer can have milk and fruits. The fast is concluded at midnight after the birth of Lord Krishna.
