Elections 2014: Modi Vs Rahul - The Tug Of War Has Begun

By Piyush Shukla

2014 Elections have already begun to take a slow but steady shape. It won't be long before we see its mammoth structure in front of us. Are we ready to face it yet? Will we finally get a leader who has it in him to lead us? India has gone through some tough situations lately, economy is getting suffocated in the clutches of the “all talks, no action” politicians. But still we hope - we hope atleast this time around we will be in safe and capable hands. Just like we do every time there is a chance for a new inning called elections. Now let's take a closer look at our two top players who will race to claim the throne in this game of politics.

The war has begun

Lok Sabha elections are likely to be held in the middle of 2014. A major fight between Congress’s prince Rahul Gandhi & BJP’s iron man Mr. Modi is likely to take place.

There is a curiosity in the astrological circles & speculations are running high.

There is a wave for the Gujarat's C.M Mr. Narendra Modi in the country. Can he be the next Prime Minister of India? Let''s see what the stars tell about him.

Narendra Modi

  • Name: Narendra Modi
  • Date of Birth: September 17, 1950
  • Time of Birth: 11 AM
  • Place of Birth: Mehsana
  • Longitude 72 E 28
  • Latitude 23 N 37
I have used Raman's ayanamsa to generate the chart as I personally find it to be a good prediction-oriented ayanamsa for the Parashari astrological system.

Analysis Of D1

We can see that in Modi Ji's chart, Bhagyesha Jupiter is aspecting the 10th house. 10th house is also occupied by the naturally benefic Venus, which is the ruler of the 7th. The 7th & 5th Lord's influence on the 10th house is producing a kind of association between Vishnu-Laxmi sthanas. A connection between Vishnu sthanas (1, 4, 7, 10) & Laxmi sthanas(1, 5, 9) is generally considered to be good from the astrological point of view. These combinations in Modi ji’s chart make his career, fame and influence over the masses very strong. Lord of 10th, Sun is in conjunction with the 4th lord & 11th lord in the house of gains. It makes him shine like the Sun in the field of politics.

We can note a powerful Neecha Bhanga Raja yoga of Moon in Lagna. Chandra-Mangal yoga in Lagna makes him a powerful personality. 2nd lord Jupiter''s presence in Kendra makes him a great speaker. Note the presence of GajKeshari yoga & Guru Mangal yoga in his chart.

Analysis Of D9

Moon's aspect over 10th house strengthens his political career. 1st house is having a presence of the 10th lord Mars in it. Mars & Venus both produce Neecha Bhanga Raja yoga in D9 chart. Bhagyesha Jupiter is in Mooltantrika in the 6th house. It aspects the 10th & 2nd houses. Hence Jupiter does good to his career & makes him a hard taskmaster. It endows him with the gift of gab.

Analysis Of D10

Note the Bhagyesha Jupiter''s presence in 10th & an aspect of waxing Moon on the career house.

1st house is accommodating the 10th lord Mars in it. Mars makes a Neecha Bhanga Raja yoga in D10 chart.

Mars, Jupiter & Moon occupy the kendras.

This gives rise to three powerful yogas:
  1. Chandra Mangal yoga
  2. Gajakeshri yoga
  3. Guru Mangal yoga.
These yogas increase his fame, power, authority & position.

Analysis Of Dasha

One may note a powerful Neecha Bhanga Raja yoga of Moon in Lagna. Also the presence of Chandra- Mangal yoga in Lagna makes him a powerful personality. Moon is also powerful in both D9 & D10. Moon forms very powerful yogas in D1 & D10. His Moon's dasa duration is from November 2009 to November 2019. Present Dasha obviously bestows him with a very powerful Raja yoga.

As per Mr. Chidambaram the elections might take place in May 2014. Modi ji would be undergoing Moon''s Dasha & Saturn''s Bhukti at that time. Note that Saturn has become powerful being in 11th house in Virgo. In D9 it has become powerful by occupying the sign of Capricorn in a Kendra. In transit Jupiter is likely to be in 8th till 20 June 2014 and thereafter it is likely to transit into 9th. These transits are going to be good since Jupiter has gained good points in 8th & 9th houses respectively in its Bhinna Ashtakavarga. So 2014 is going to be great for him.

Now Lets Take A Look At Rahul Gandhi’s Chart

Rahul Gandhi

  • Name: Rahul Gandhi
  • Date of Birth: June 18, 1970
  • Time of Birth: 21:52:00
  • Place of Birth: Delhi
Mr. Rahul Gandhi has quite less chances of becoming the future PM, since his 10th house is weak. Functionally malefic Jupiter is in 10th house aspected by a debilitated Saturn from the 4th. In 10th house Jupiter is in an inimical sign & it is retrograde too. 10th lord Venus is in an inimical sign. 1st lord is debilitated & aspected by Jupiter, which is functionally malefic for the Capricorn ascendant. Rahu is in 2nd house & Ketu in the 8th. These factors are not favourable for giving him the post of Prime Minister. Rahul ji''s chart is a week & ordinary chart, when compared to that of Modi ji''s.

Rahul ji is going through a Moon Dasha & Rahu Bhukti right now, which would continue till 23/5/2014. After this he would be going through the period of Moon-Jupiter. These bhuktis are unlikely to give him good results.

Conclusion

Stars favour Narendra Modi ji''s candidature over Rahul Gandhi. Modi ji has got the potential to become the PM of India. Let''s see who really wins the electoral Mahabharata of 2014.

Desire Vs Sin: An Astrological Outlook

Everyone has heard about the seven deadly sins. Well.. I need no longer to say - heard; I can aswell say - witnessed. Because, now-a-days these sins have got a new life in them. They openly feed on the innocent, some fall prey to it while some fight. People are more bold in committing their crimes. The feel of regret or an inner conscience is totally gone in the dust. It’s just the cold cruel world left out there for everyone to face. Things have to be brought to order, measure have to be taken and peace has to be brought to its rightful place once again.

“A large part of mankind is angry not with the sins, but with the sinners.” - Lucius Annaeus Seneca

In our religion of humanity, excess of anything is prohibited. Be it sweet or sour. Our Hindu scriptures have stressed upon peace of mind more than money in pocket. There are several ways to achieve it, which are differentiated by religions. In Hindu religion, we have examples of Ravana and Duryodhana, who met their brutal end because they had excess of feelings of ego and lust in them. Ravana’s thirst for knowledge got overshadowed by the worldly desires. An example about his lost glory would be when Ravana dies, Lord Shree Ram tells Laxman to go close to him and get some words of wisdom. This was the reputation of Ravana, before he met his brutal end, all because of the sin for lust.

In today's world, we see sexual harassments, molestations, eve teasing; all this not only by street mongers but also by our elected representatives of the society whom we call politicians. Babas are also following their footsteps very closely. There is no need of names, every next day we hear the news about a female being molested. In Uttar Kand, it is mentioned by Shri Tulsidas Ji in his Shri Ramcharitmanas about the bad deeds in Kaliyug and the sad part is, everything that is mentioned is coming true without any modifications.

For every human action, there are astrological reasons also and this is what is the purpose of this article. Planets like Mars, Venus and Rahu are the chief governors of sexual behaviours and generate thoughts in one’s mind.

Venus is the main planet which is responsible for sexual behaviours and thoughts. When it gets afflicted by Rahu or Mars, the person becomes uncontrollable. It is just like what happens to a hungry dog after seeing or smelling a big piece of bone or flesh. Venus provokes, Mars and Rahu convert the provocation into action. The intensity of the affliction and the brutality used are directly proportional, if the prevailing Dasha (period), Bhukti and transit etc. are also permitting it.

Venus also governs arts, entertainment, luxury, movies, music and such things. We see that many eminent artists have married twice or thrice, had an extramarital relationship or were very much interested in having physical relations with opposite sex. It is an open secret. Many Venusian people hide their true feelings and pretend to be very religious outside.

When this Venus gets the company of Mars or Rahu, it becomes difficult for the native to handle sensual desires. But the affliction should be extreme and connected with evil houses mainly 8th or 12th. There should be no benefic conjunction or aspect on these.

People with such afflictions have myriad dreams and sunk in such thoughts always. They speak softly, but inside there is a fierce desire to quench their thirst. In my small journey of astrology, I have come across many such people and found the positions of Venus, Mars and Rahu bad in their charts. Such people also believe in black magic and are very big consumers of Aphrodite’s. They are constant clients of black magicians, astrologers, big saints and their aim is only to get their thing done.

In the field of politics, religion, movies and music; we can see many such people. I am not providing charts of such people, as it will not be a right thing to do so.

Society is made by humans and it is bound to have all kind of good as well as bad people. Just because of one, we cannot blame all. What we need is proper moral guidance from the beginning. Our justice system also needs to toughen up and free itself from the clutches of ugly politicians. Police needs to be given free hand.

May justice be given to all!

Shraddh: In Remembrance of our Ancestors

Shraddh ritual
Shraddh 2013 or Pitra Paksha has begun on 19th September and will continue till 4th October. Shraddh is an annual ceremony done to satisfy one's ancestors or "Pitru". The word Shraddha is derived from "sraddhayaa deeyate yasmath", meaning something done with great faith. A Shraddh includes Havana (offering of fire), Arghya (offering of water), Pindadhan, Dakshina, feeding of Brahmins, Vikira and Tarpana.

History behind Shraddha

Varaha Purana explains the origin of Shraddh. According to it, Sage Atreya had a son, Nimi and Nimi too had a son who practiced meditation for many years but died. After the death of his son, Nimi got into an inconsolable state and was sad and restless with his son's memories. To console himself he invited seven Brahmins to his home and offered them the food his son loved. While he was feeding the Brahmins, Sage Narada visited his home and saw the whole act. Seeing this Nimi felt ashamed and felt sorry explaining that he had done all this assuming that he was feeding his own son. Sage Narada assured him that he had done nothing wrong and he should remember his Pitrus with utmost faith and belief. Nimi did the same and got to know that his son was safe in the Pitru Lok with his ancestors and nothing wrong has been done by him. His ancestors blessed him for his deeds. Since then, Shraddha came into existence in Hindu customs.

Importance of Shraddh

South Indian Amavasyant calendar states that Shraddh falls in Bhadrapada (lunar month) whereas, according to the North Indian Purnimant calendar it falls in Ashwin (lunar month). Only the classification of lunar months differ in both cases and the ritual is celebrated on the same days in both the communities. Shraddha is done by the present generation of the ancestors to ensure that the soul of the ancestors will rest in peace forever. In Hindu mythology it is believed that all the sins committed by the ancestors gets cleansed with Shraddha. It is done by taking the names of the ancestors along with the name of their Gotra or family tree. In return, the dead ancestors bless their present generation with health, wealth, long life and prosperity.

Where and when shraddh should be done

Shraddh ceremony is supposed to be done near any temple or on the bank of a river. Though it is done on the date or tithi on which the ancestors died but some exceptions are also associated with it. Fourth and fifth day are reserved for the Shraddha of people who died the previous year. Shraddh of women who died before their husbands is meant to be done on Avidha Navami. For those who died all of a sudden or had violent death, Ghata Chaturdashi is the day. And, Sarvapitri Amavasya is the day for all the forefathers and ancestors.

Correct way to perform the rituals

Shraddh is done by the eldest son of the family or in some cases by the eldest male member of the family. The right costume for performing the rituals is Dhoti and a ring made of Kusha grass. It is must that the member doing the rituals has earlier gone through the sacred-thread tradition. Tarpana is performed by him which means the offerings that are made to the Gods and the ancestors. Pinda-dan is a very important part of the whole ceremony in which rice balls, ghee and barley are offered to the ancestors. Brahmins are fed with grand meal and donations are also made to them. Offering food to cow, crow and dog is also considered good on the day of shraddh. After the whole ceremony is done, the family takes the same food as Prasada.

The merits associated with performing shraddh are, happy and misery free life, protection and longevity of family members. The demerit of not performing shraddh is a poor and miserable life of the individual and his family members. Therefore, performing shraddh with complete faith and devotion is a must for one and all.
